Les Gets, French Alps - July 2005

A week of downhill mountain biking. Motocross without an engine.

You can spend for ever blasting down steep and gravelly, or steeper and bouldery, without ever having to pedal uphill. Except when Little Andy or Tim don't know the way.

A great biking area, with a single lift-pass covering the Port Du Soleil areas of Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel etc.
A 6 pass pass was Euro 56. Plenty of friendly local lift attendants to help with bike on/off, and virtually no lift queues at all. Resort details.

There are several good bike-hire shops, but a decent down-hiller e.g. Kona Stinky, is Euro 75 / day. That's per day, not per week. Great machines tho, all the suspension and disc brakes you will ever need.

Geneva airport transfer for Euros 60 return, door to door.
