Subject: Re: Action to research Netball

All,

Found some great local info for you in respect to Netball equipment:

http://www.netballuk.co.uk/ has everything you could possibly need, including special price "Netball Nix" and shorties:

I think the nix are fantastic. The shorties just look like your average boxers, though these are probably more resistant to "fallout".

Lycra skirts and tops:

Tops seem to be a number of styles, including sleeveless (..mmm nice), collar, no collar, V-neck, you can get away with pretty much any type of T-shirt. Colour schemes include side-stripes and pin striping following through the skirt for that integrated look. Skirts come in full pleat, kick pleat and no pleat (miniskirt) styles.

Full dresses for those who really want to get into it (very fetching if you ask me):

Also sets of patches and bibs (patches are cheaper), but the letter combinations don't seem very inspired to me....GA, GK, WD etc.

Seems to me you need more interesting combinations such as SU, MY, CK, CO etc.

For the conniesewer (Little Andy?), there is even a section on "Shock absorber" Sportsbras. I STRONGLY advise everyone to check out the technicalities of this area, which uses such buzz phrases as "Impact Level 2", uses of X-static pure silver fibre to inhibit the growth of odour-causing bacteria and fungi, thermodynamic properties etc. Some can even be worn as an outer garment, so you could dispense with the shirts altogether.

Oh yes, and they're modelled by Anna Kournikova...  to save you scrolling back to the top, the link is

For the authentic finish, consider the following (nice pink colour), perhaps held by the umpire for the evening. Someone HAS to have a whistle.

Team Names (in Australia anyway) tend to lean towards bird names, mainly with an aggressive slant and sponsor name, such as the Medibank Adelaide Thunderbirds, Queensland Firebirds, Perth Orioles, AIS Canberra Darters, McDonalds Hunter Jaegers, or Melbourne Kestrels (see below - makes me want to go and watch some netball, WA has zero defects).

UK names include things like precious stones and pretty much anything else.

Could come up with a name such as the Great Auks, Proctor Emus, or maybe something with a female slant, such as the Farnborough Ovaries or similar  (suitable for quips such as "We're always looking for new Ovaries", "I'm a committed team player, I'd do anything for the Ovaries" or "I train with the Ovaries once during the week and twice at the weekends" etc.).

Finally, the Market Harborough Netball League (oh yes, there is competition) play at the Harborough Leisure Centre on Saturdays from 2-4pm.

Give 'em hell!!  GO OVARIES!!

Andy

PS. Please foward to the team...
